WhatsApp New Feature: WhatsApp is giving you a ‘permanent mute switch’ |

Everyone who is on WhatsApp has felt annoyed at least once with the constant notifications, especially from a super active group chat that they are just part of due to some obligation only. Now, it seems WhatsApp kind of agrees with those users who face such a problem, which is why it may soon give its users an option to permanently mute notifications.
This was spotted by WABetaInfo, the online platform that tracks the upcoming changes on the platform in the latest update version that WhatsApp has submitted through the Google Play Beta Program. The report says that this feature is still under development therefore may not be visible as of now.

Coming back to the feature, the ‘Always’ option under the ‘Mute notification for…’ section is set to replace the ‘1 year’ option, suggest the report.
As mentioned, this feature is not yet available for users but is expected to be seen in the next updates. Further, even though the report only mentions the Android operating system, it is completely expected to be rolled out to iOS too.
Earlier this month, WhatsApp announced a couple of new features that the platform is adding to the platform to enhance its utility. The app added support for QR codes that allow users to add someone new to their contact list. It also rolled out support for new animated sticker packs and dark mode for those who use WhatsApp on their desktop either through app or WhatsApp web. Further, the app now offers support for focusing on a video call participant of their choice in a group call and quick access to group video calls through a single tap. Last, the app now supports Status updates feature that disappear after 24 hours for handsets running on KaiOS.
