When did Labor Day begin
International Labor Day began in Chicago in the US in May 1886. Gradually, it spread to many countries of the world. India also adopted it. For the first time in India, Labor Day i.e. Labor Day was celebrated on 1 May 1923.
Labor Day is known as Workers’ Day, Workers’ Day, International Workers’ Day. At the same time, Labor Day is officially celebrated in the US on the first Monday of September. However, May Day started in the US.

When the demand for working 8 hours ?
In 1886, on the occasion of May Day, 2 lakh workers went on a nationwide strike demanding 8 hours of work. During that time, a large number of laborers worked in long shifts for 12-12 hours seven days and salary was also less. The children also had to work in difficult conditions. In America, children were forced to work in factory, mines and farms in poor conditions.
After this, the workers started pressuring them to increase their salary and reduce working hours through their demonstrations. In 1889, the International General Assembly met in Paris. During this time a resolution was passed that International Labor Day will be celebrated in all countries.
Labor Day Celebration in India –
Labor Day is celebrated as a protest not only in India but throughout the world. This happens when working men and women take out processions on the road to protect their rights and interests. Various trade organizations and trade unions take out processions, rally and parades with their own people. Apart from processions, there are various types of competitions for children, so that they can participate in it and understand the true meaning of solidarity. In this way, children can understand the strength of unity, which is the right means to celebrate Labor Day. On this day, messages of Happy Labor Day are shown on all the news channels, radio and social networking sites, employees also send messages to each other and wish them. By doing this, social awareness of the people towards Labor Day also increases.

Apart from all these, leaders of different political parties give speeches in front of the public, they all take full advantage of such occasions to win the next election. In 1960, Bombay was divided into two parts on the basis of language, making Gujarat and Maharashtra the status of independent state on this day (1 May). Therefore, May Day is celebrated as Maharashtra Day and Gujarat Day with great fanfare in Maharashtra and Gujarat respectively. Labor Day is one such occasion, when all the people of the world understand and celebrate the true spirit of the working class. It is a day when all the workers get a chance to show their strength, solidarity in front of everyone, which shows how effectively the working class can fight for their rights in a positive way.
This is my feeling towards those people who consider servants as slaves, kill their rights as well as exploit them. Labor is not trivial, labor is an important unit of society.
